A quintessentially Canadian multi-media opera set in the 1950s, Hockey Noir is about the classic hockey rivalry between Toronto and Montreal. Here it takes centre stage with a side of organised crime. Love, lust, scandal, blood, betrayal - in sudden death, who wins and who loses is determined not by fate, but by the final shot.

Produced by L’ Ensemble Contemporain de Montréal (ECM+), Hockey Noir featured music by André Ristic, libretto by Cecil Castellucci, with staging, choreography and storyboards by Marie-Josée. It premiered at Montreal’s Monument-National on May 3, 2018 before touring to Toronto, Brussels and Mons.
